music that I enjoy!
Fav genre: Alt rock, Shoegaze, and their dereivatives
Bands
for a band to be considered a "favorite", my requirement is that i have to enojoy the majority of their discography.
Holy Fawn [Doomgaze/Heavy Shoegaze/Blackgaze/Metal] || my current fav band!! i love them a lot and i'm so happy that my first concert experience was with them ヾ(≧o≦)ゝ♪
Tigercub [Rock] || you cannot imagine the pure rush of serotonin that was injected into my body when i saw that Tigercub was featured in green yuri. i'm happy that they're gotten more attention bc of the manga too; i think their music's great (you need to look no further than my Umbra playlist... which is filled with their songs, lol)
Softcult [Alt rock/Riot Grrrl(?)/Shoegazey] || i have many of their songs on Maroon's playlist, lol
Dead Poet Society [Rock]
Honorable Mentions:
Radiohead [Alt rock/Experimental rock] || i've been listening to them a lot but they're not a favorite; i like a lot of their songs though. everyday i thank the stars that i'm normal about them because that means i'm one less sterotype away from being called a femcel lmaoo /j
Glare [Shoegaze] || i also listen to them alot but all of their songs sound the same so i don't really have any favorites from them (which isn't necessarily a bad thing!)
The Neighbourhood [Alt rock] || i haven't listen to them since 2019, but i really loved all of their albums/songs before the 2020 Chip Chrome album. the only music CD i own is, in fact, their I Love You (2013) album (thank you to my friend who gifted it to me for Secret Santa)
Albums
AM (2013) -- Arctic Monkeys || they were my fav band at the height of my indie/alt rock phase and i still enjoy most of their songs (i stopped listening to them after Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino (2018) came out; don't get me wrong, i enjoy Alexandra Savior too but i didn't start listening to Arctic Monkeys for a style inspired by her and so i lost interest and moved on)! with my current tastes in rock leaning towards heavier stuff, you'd think my fav album would be one of their older albums like Humbug (2009) or Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006), but nope, AM (2013). idk, i just think AM (2013) is their strongest and most stylistically cohesive album. i vibed with every song on that album and i liked that although AM (2013) was cohesive, all the songs were distinctive.
Fav songs from the album: No. 1 Party Anthem , I Wanna Be Yours
OFF Original Soundtrack (???) -- Alias Conrad Coldwood || god i need it injected into me uuuueuhhfffhghhhhh
Desperate Times, Desperate Pleasures (2021) -- Boston Manor
Fav song from the album: I Don't Like People (& They Don't Like Me)
Honorable Mentions:
Gawk (2015) -- Vundabar || imma say it rn i liked them before Alien Blues got them TikTok famous, haha. but yeah, Gawk (2015) is one of those examples of an album (and band, lets be honest) where all of their songs kinda sound the same--and i liked them because of that! haven't been into them in years at this point, but i wouldn't be mad if one of the songs from this album played on shuffle.
BADLANDS (Deluxe) (2015) -- Halsey || honestly, this album is only on this list bc of sentimentality. this is was my first album that i really liked and listening to it helped the algorithym introduce more indie/alt rock songs in middle school haha. i haven't touched any of her songs since then, but i have fond memories of it.
Songs
Current Favs:
Is It Really You , A Sad Cartoon , and Two-Way Mirror -- Loathe || if you know any other songs like these songs PLEASE PLEASE let me know. fr fr it's like a high i've been chasing for the last couple of years that i still haven't satisfied
Dark Stone and Beneath A Lightless Star -- Holy Fawn || i don't like fry screaming. if i wanted to listen to people yell, i'd talk to my parents. i make the exception for Holy Fawn every time though, lol. And occasionally Loathe.
Jigsaw Falling Into Place , Man of War Spectre , Knives Out -- Radiohead || my favorite out of all of these has to be Man of War, though Knives Out is a close contender since the lore makes the song like 10x cooler.
AN ITERATION -- The Armed || if you also know any songs like this, please let me know
Angel , Nightmares , and Madra -- NewDad || I only knew about the art trend for this album until after. I was showing my roomate my new finds and they were the one to tell me about it.
-- HIMALAYAS
I'd Stay Forever -- whither

Verve - scorn (I literally can't find this fucking song anywhere else except Apple Music and it makes me so mad because it's so good but the artist never put it on his Spotify and I don't want to get Apple Music just to listen to one song; this also easily takes the "most obscure song" award bc the artist only had like 13 monthly listeners when I found him and no, before you ask, I don't know this guy irl). i'd make a TikTok just to contact this dude if it wasn;t for the fact that my dislike for TikTok overrides my curiousity and love for this one song [Link ]
